According to India Energy Storage Alliance, India’s EV market will grow about 36 percent by 2026. This provides colossal opportunities for new-age players to make the most out of the largest two-wheeler market in the world.
In the same vein, OLA is all set to dive into the world of electronic vehicles, with an aim to strike a perfect balance between their affordability and sustainability. The shift from ride-hailing fleet management to manufacturing and retailing of EVs will become a reality at the ‘Ola Future Factory’ site being built on the lines of Tesla’s Gigafactory in the US.
Expected to be the world's largest two-wheeler factory with an annual capacity of 10 million, the Ola Future Factory will be designing, engineering, and manufacturing key components independently. This ambitious project by Ola took off at the same time as Elon Musk-led Tesla Inc. prepared to enter India. On the remark that Ola wants to do a Tesla with affordability, the Ola chairman and group CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal said,
“We’re not the Tesla of India, we’re the Ola of the world”.
